Frank and Mary’s Tavern was opened by Frank and Mary Herring in 1945, just after World War II. With rationing at its end, Frank and Mary enjoyed the luxury of sharing a vast menu with their patrons. They started by simply selling beer and fish sandwiches from the front room or their house. This near Danville restaurant has found its home in two other buildings prior to becoming the Frank and Mary’s Tavern of today. Their current location was built in 1916 and has been everything from a chicken hatchery to an aircraft electronics factory.

For five generations, the Herring family has run Frank and Mary’s Tavern. Each new generation has proudly up held the tradition of sharing great food at reasonable prices. The tradition started in 1945 continues today as many Hoosiers frequent the beloved Frank and Mary’s Tavern.

Frank and Mary’s Tavern retains its former glory and tradition in its catfish sandwiches. In homage to the original Frank and Mary’s, this near Danville bar and restaurant is still known today for its delicious catfish. In addition, they serve baked salmon, baked tilapia, shrimp, chicken and steak. With daily lunch specials, it is easy to find a great deal and a lot of variety at Frank and Mary’s Tavern. Dinners range from $8.00 to $16.00, with gigantic portion sizes and tons of choices. They offer appetizers, salads, soups, sandwiches and more.
