Famous Danville People

The small town of Danville, Indiana, just outside of Indianapolis, in Central Indiana, has yet to produce many famous people, but those two favored sons have made their home town proud.

Another of  the famous people of Danville is also widely known, especially in the world of professional baseball. “Big Sam” Thompson made a name for himself during the late 1800s in pro ball, playing for the team that was to become the Phillies. Big Sam became a Hall of Famer and baseball legend, and had a hand, consequently, in putting Danville, and Danville people, on the map.

It is not an unusual state of affairs for tiny burgs with just over 6,000 residents to be the home of only one or two famous people. People who live is quiet little towns are usually exceedingly happy to lead quiet, productive and low-profile lives.
